About MPPM

Master of Public Policy and Management (MPPM) is an innovative academic program designed to deal with wide range of public policy and governance issues along with enhancing management knowledge and skills of public sector.

The program is designed for young and mid-career professionals currently working or seeking career in public services, nonprofit organizations, private sector, policy think tank and other similar kind of organizations. It aims to provide these aspiring individuals with an opportunity to step outside of narrowly defined traditional lines of discipline, and understand and analyze complex public policy and governance issues through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.

Objective

MPPM aims to produce graduates with in-depth understanding of theoretical as well as practical underpinnings of public policy and governance with special emphasis on Nepal’s policymaking process and context. This 2-year program emphasizes theoretical and practical understanding of public policy making process so as to nurture and develop responsible professionals in order to excel this sector. The graduates are anticipated to be equipped with tools and models to understand the complexities of the policy process, formulate, evaluate, and even recommend policy alternatives to address issues of public and social concerns.

Upon completion of the program, MPPM engages students with wide range of activities, and provides exposures to capacitate with the following competencies:

• Critical understanding of the concepts of public policy and governance along with policy process and institutions in Nepali context,
•  A solid grasp of the fundamentals of qualitative and quantitative research and analytical methods to conduct in-depth policy analyses,
•  The ability to understand and analyze the complexities of policy problems, design and evaluate appropriate options, and synthesize and communicate to the relevant stakeholders, and
• Strategic leadership and decision making to better manage and improve operating results ensuring higher efficiency and effectiveness of public sectors.
